Burchard Steinbild is a graduated Mathematician. Since 1987 he has been developing software under Unix. In 1992 he founded SuSE together with 3 of his friends.  Managing his role as Chief Technology Officer and entrepreneur with tremendous technical expertise, he was responsible for a major part of SuSE's success story.

In 1999, he retired voluntarily to concentrate on his family life. Currently he is spending his time and expertise consulting and helping young and innovative software companies build up their business.
